Some shoots you plan from start to finish. Others unfold in ways you could never predict. This shoot with Anise in downtown Atlanta is one of those that still lives with me years later.
Back then I had a friend who managed a hotel downtown. He would let me use the rooms whenever I wanted to shoot. Every room had its own mood, its own kind of energy. I never really knew what I was walking into, but that unpredictability was part of the magic.
Anise and I had shot together before. She always brought great energy to the camera, but this night was different from the start. She walked in with her makeup already done — smoky, bold, and perfectly vintage. She wore a simple red top. I figured we would capture a few sexy portraits and call it a night.
But then she surprised me.
Without warning she slipped out of her clothes and poured water and oil across her skin. The entire room changed. The way the light reflected on her body, the shine on the wood floors, the energy she carried. Suddenly it felt less like a photo shoot and more like a scene from a film.
The images that came out of that night are raw, bold, and unapologetic. They have that timeless feel you can’t fake. They are not polished studio shots. They are alive, sensual, and vintage in their heat.
